Nikki Seibert
The Nathanial Jones Individual Honoree Award 2008
Nikki Seiber, a College of Charleston graduate student, was nominated in the individual category for being a "green" catalyst of change. Nikki's efforts include facilitating a LEED-AP study group for the local branch of the United States Green Building Council, serving as a recycling coordinator for a local environmental organization and as a green building coordinator for Sea Island Habitat for Humanity. She has also committed to being the change she wants to see in the world by committing to a car-free lifestyle. She documents her experiences on the road as a novice cyclist on her blog entitled, The Road Less Traveled.
Not too many students have time for much else beyond their thesis and research, but Nikki has truly taken a unique path as a student and applied her education, passion and energy towards making her life more sustainable. Her actions have helped inspire many others simply by practicing a sustainable lifestyle herself. We are very proud to award Nikki with the SCA Individual Honor Award with every faith that she will continue to inspire others wherever she ends up.
"Nikki was a very positive person to be around during the LEED study group - she made efficient use of everyone's time and did a great job of creating an environment of collaboration" - Elias Deeb, The Noisette Company |
