"The inspiration behind the GREENS Fund was three fold.

First, as integral pieces of natural ecosystems, humans have a duty to protect the very environments in which we depend for our subsistence.  We cannot disrupt the web of life because we are a strand in it;if we hurt the web, we hurt ourselves.

Second, children have the uncanny ability to think imaginatively while solving problems.  Young adults can think completely outside of the societal, economic, and policy constraints that often hold adults back from imagining the impossible because, frankly, they have not been exposed to such boundaries.

Lastly, I wanted to show children the power of an idea.  All it takes is one moment of inspiration, a youthful imagination, hard work, and passion, to grow that idea into a reality.  The current educational system does not often provide an outlet for children’s imaginations.  At the end of the day, there is not enough time, energy, or motivation for a child to explore anything outside of the general education requirements.  I wanted to provide an outlet for a child’s imagination.  I wanted to teach children about this earth".
