Green Cities Initiative

The Green Cities Initiative is an effort to bring together the efforts of local government, city staff, businesses and other organizations to coordinate strategies that promote sustainable development, grow green industry and enhance quality of life.

The purpose of the Green Cities Initiative is to create strategies and goals that promote sustainable development and encourage cooperative problem solving to address the environmental, economic, and social challenges we face today.

The Green Cities Initiative recognizes sustainable development as:

1) a meta-fix, a comprehensive multidimensional concept that engages people and operations on all levels;

2) a framework for decision making dedicated to the principle of interdependence and systemic connections; and

3) an intergenerational pursuit providing for the needs of the present with an eye towards the future.
