We reach out to the community—educating
residents and businesses on how to live and build "green"
We believe community concern and commitment is a critical
part of establishing and maintaining sustainable communities.
Our demonstration model home, The
GreenHouse, was completed in 2003. We took a typical
1940s-era 2-bedroom home in North Charleston, evaluated
its construction and grounds, and developed a plan to renovate
and retrofit the house sustainably—adding insulation,
sealing its crawl space and installing "green" appliances
and systems. Over 2,000 visitors have come to the Green House,
a real-world example of sustainable living.
Community Education
Through our workshops, special
programs and events, we educate individuals and businesses on
living and building green: conserving energy, improving air
quality, recycling and making daily sustainable choices.
